How to Calculate Tip
To calculate tip, multiply the bill amount by the tip percentage (as a decimal). For example:
- Bill: $100, Tip: 18% → Tip Amount = $100 × 0.18 = $18, Total = $118
- To split the bill among 4 people: $118 ÷ 4 = $29.50 per person
Standard tips in the US range from 15% (average service) to 20-25% (excellent service).
