How to Calculate GPA

GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the formula:

GPA = Total Grade Points / Total Credit Hours

Step-by-step calculation:

  1. For each course, multiply grade points by credit hours
  2. Sum all grade points from all courses
  3. Sum all credit hours
  4. Divide total points by total credits

Example (4.0 scale):

  • Math: 3 credits × A (4.0) = 12.0 points
  • English: 3 credits × B (3.0) = 9.0 points
  • Science: 4 credits × A- (3.7) = 14.8 points
  • Total: 35.8 points ÷ 10 credits = 3.58 GPA

Note: Different institutions may use different grading scales and methods. This calculator supports 4.0, 5.0, and 10.0 scales.
